void, of course

"Void of Course Moon" is an astrological term meaning
that period of 2½ days when the moon moves between
one sign (say, Libra) and the next (Scorpio).

moon passes through two
and a half days at loose ends
the planet of connections not connecting
two and half days between worlds
let's journey make magick time for nothing
but space and space and space and
spinning the dial twisting the dial
going out of focus
whatever
don't start anew
don't draw the line
elect against that surgery
no contracts
no marriage vows
of course
it's void
of course

she made him an offer
he couldn't refuse

and he made her a promise
he couldn't keep

2.

no moss

3.

he made her an offer
she couldn't refuse

and she made him a promise
she couldn't keep

4.

psyche
stared
into oily, burning
welts
she might have—
the thought occurred—
dropped hot nickels on his
pretty back or divined
runes
of the future she now saw
firmly closed
gates
fronting blasted bridges

5.

he made her a promise
she couldn't refuse

and she made him an offer
he couldn't keep

6.

crosstown bird's
in the wind again
in the wind

7.

he made her a promise
he couldn't remember

and she made her
self
scarce
