FACE

what
to do
with your face
chiseled
and fine
as Irish linen
it keeps
coming at me
from around corners
a silent
eater of dreams
a thief
of other faces
it appears
like a mask
there it is
perched
on the withered neck
of an old
black woman
and there
skateboarding
down the features
of a small
Korean boy
your face
makes me want
to kiss
the eyelashes
off strangers
your face
makes me want
to grab them
by shoulders
which are not
your shoulders
and demand
that they return to me
your face.

LOVE AFFAIR

was it
at 1st sight?
1st sight
1st sound
1st touch
you’ve become
my 1st long-term
love affair
successfully
seeping
into my pores
entering my bloodstream
saturating
my anatomy
so that now
no one
could part us
i’m joined
to you
by an unseen
unbreakable
umbilical cord
joined
to you
undeniably
and irreversibly
joined
to
my one
my only
mine own
New York.
