Katina is a poet with empty pockets and a heart of solid gold.  As a kid, she toted notebooks and a clatter of pens wherever she went.  At 29, she still finds it impossible to leave her Brooklyn apartment without these essentials.  Born in Detroit, she moved to New York 3 years ago to pursue her dream of putting creativity into the center of her life.  She has performed sporadically at random open mic's throughout NYC, including venues like the now defunct Meow Mix, the newly opened Cattyshack, and the very close to home Vox Pop.  She also performed several times at the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, and at Camp Trans.  "I Want Barbie" was written in college at Michigan State University where she studied Psychology and Film.  She is currently working on many writing projects and creative musical and film-based collaborations, and is an intern at Velvetpark magazine.
