After 5 years together,
I am breaking up with you.
It's over.
I bid you adieu!
Good-bye to the 6 train, the 4/5, the
A, the C, the J, the 2/3, and yes the
L, too.
For I am finished with you.
The inaudible announcements, the fare increases, the track work and
re-routing of trains,
Oh, I will never return to you.
Good-bye to people giving me colds.
Achoo.
No more mornings squished against smelly strangers or being badgered
for
change.
I shall cross the Brooklyn Bridge in my new car.
right Blue.
Oh subway, I wish I could forget you.
The pushing and shoving of rush hour, the religious fanatics,
the strike, which left us stranded...
These were things I didn't believe I'd live through.
Alas, here I am; arisen like a Phoenix, and I am laughing at you.
With the sun roof wide open, I speed faster than any local or
express train
can ever do.

Psychology from Syracuse University and a Masters in Social Work
from Columbia. She currently works as a therapist to adolescents
living in residential care in Connecticut. She has already put 3,000
