SKYSCRAPERS

the redwoods are just like
New York, really, the massive
thick trunks like the buildings - the
firm jut of branches the
scaffolding - and be it blind
windstorm or terrorists on
Tuesday they both
sometimes
even
fall
down.

NUMBER NINE

does it
work too with
humans like it
works well with trees you can
saw open bone to count
rings for how old we are?

HURRICANE MITCH

I lived with Mitch at the time a
hurricane came with the
very same name but
Mitch didn't act like a
hurricane when I kicked
broken his finger or
threw all those knives & the
time I tried to jump out the
window -- when a hurricane
could hurl me 12 miles -- all
Mitch did was hold
me back.

MESOS

she said my
dog looked
faintly dangerous I thought
dangerous to my rat & o yes
dangerous to my slipper & so
dangerous to her chew toy that has
gone and lost its head & the danger
to me from this canine - is the danger I shall love her much too much
