WEATHER
It rained for
2 weeks in November
Then it rained another 2 weeks, and
One month more, and an additional month,
And then it rained for the four
years
Of the president's first reign, and during
His second executive
quatrain, it poured.
Multitudes of wet people suffered humiliations
Due to the vast economic
slowdown,
Recession, the downpour, too little cash
Chasing
ever-expanding requests
For apples, automobiles, zucchini,
Internet
access, dry clothing, paper, pens.
All the sparkling shops that opened, closed.
Weddings postponed, because of the rains.
Umbrellas replaced dollars euros & the yen
As the cross-border medium of
exchange.
Bangladesh, New Orleans, and Venice left.
The new president called for improved rain gear
And wind-powered drying
engines.
But it was too late. The floods turned to sand.
